How to Preview and Publish Changes on Rollout AI
Overview
When using Rollout AI's website builder, you need to follow specific steps to properly save, preview, and publish your website changes. This article explains the correct workflow to ensure your changes appear in both preview and published versions.
Understanding the Workflow
In Rollout AI, the workflow follows this sequence:
- Edit - Make changes to your website elements
- Apply Changes - Save your edits to the current session
- Publish - Deploy your changes to make them live
Making and Previewing Changes
- Select Elements to Edit:
- Click on any element in your website to select it
- Use the editing panel on the right side to modify properties
- Making AI-Powered Edits:
- Use the AI Edit section at the top of the right panel
- Type your desired changes in the text field
- Optionally upload images or check "Apply to all sections"
- Click "Submit" to apply AI-generated changes
- Preview Changes in Real-Time:
- Changes are immediately visible in the editing interface
- For style changes, they appear as you adjust settings
- For AI-powered edits, they appear after processing
Publishing Your Changes
When you're satisfied with your edits and ready to make them live:
- Find the "Publish Changes" button at the bottom of the right panel
- Click this button to open the deployment dialog
- Enter a deployment name to identify this version (e.g., "Version 1 - Homepage Update")
- Click "Deploy Project" to start the publishing process
- Wait for the deployment to complete (you'll see a progress indicator)
- Once complete, click "Visit Site" to view your live site or "Finish" to return to editing
Important Notes
- Unsaved Changes Warning: If you attempt to close the editor with unsaved changes, you'll see a warning prompt
- Deployment Names: Use descriptive deployment names to track your site versions
- Undo/Redo: Use the undo (⌘Z) and redo (⌘⇧Z) buttons in the Quick Actions section to revert changes
- Version Control: Each published version creates a new snapshot in your project history
Troubleshooting
If your published changes aren't appearing:
- Make sure the deployment process completed successfully (green checkmark)
- Try clearing your browser cache or opening the site in an incognito window
- Verify you're visiting the correct URL for your published site
- If using a custom domain, allow time for DNS propagation (up to 48 hours)
